While doing a bit of research on Valentine's Day I discovered something I had not previously known. Apparently the skull of St. Valentine is available for public viewing in the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. Is it "be my valentine" or "trick or treat"? How do we know this is really Valentine's skull? Why its labeled, silly.

  1. You've just given me inspiration for my "Weekend Rerun" post! I did a post last year on the origin of Valentine's day and I do believe I shall repeat that.

That could very well be St. Valentin'es head as his manner of death included clubbing, stoning and, yes, beheading!

  2. It's a lovely relic! I can't help but imagine him going around with that label stamped on his head in life.

  3. Ok...that's funny! I wondered the same thing while traveling around Europe and Turkey. How could every church have a piece of the same person? Bizarre. I'm glad I'm not famous...so I can stay intact. Holly at lifelaughlatte
